Unique Identification Authority of India

It is a statutory authority established under the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (“Aadhaar Act 2016”) on 12 July 2016 by the Government of India. It was created under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

An objective of UIDAI is to issue Unique Identification numbers (UID), named as "Aadhaar", to all residents of India that functions as:

  • A proof robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake identities, and
  • which can be verified and authenticated in an easy, cost-effective way

Enrolling of residents of India for Adhaar card is the responsibility of UIDAI and for this purpose UIDAI has empanelled a number of enrollment sources and agencies. Squaria Global is one of the empanelled agencies that has secured approval from the concerned authority. It has established centres for enrolment and undertaken demographic and biometric data for UID enrolment. UIDAI issues Aadhar card which is a 12-digit random number to the citizens of India after fulfillment of all verification process. Soft India assists all people from rural, semi-urban and urban areas to enroll and obtain Adhaar number. After a process of demographic and biometric de-duplication, a unique only one Adhaar is generated for an individual. By attaining this number, the citizens will be availing various subsidies, benefits and services delivered by the Government of India.
